Dear mailing list members,

This is my first message to the list so please be gentle if I ignore some rules ;)

I'm using Jitsi (tried latest stable and now running bleeding edge) on Ubuntu 13.04 Linux (64bit) since Cisco doesn't offer their Jabber Client for Linux and I really like it.

Although there's two main issues I'm facing and I'd like to know if they're known or if there's anything I could tweak to make these work:

1) Video Calls don't work. If I keep hammering the video on of button I sometimes happen to make the other side see me after disabling and enabling video during a call. But I never see anything - so it's one-way video at best. This is bad because sometimes I'm crashing whole jitsi.

2) Presence Status. I'm connected to the Cisco XMPP/Jabber Server (called IM/Presence) and it works fine for most of the IM&P needs. But I wouldn't mention it if there'd be nothing broken. When I use multiple jabber clients like Jabber on iphone, Jabber in Windows VM etc. I can see my status going "on the phone" immediately when I pickup the handset. When Jitsi is running first of all it shows my status as Online and second it seems to battle with the other clients about the status, because others see me as "on the phone" and Online randomly - only if Jitsi is running. My "on the phone" status works very well when Jitsi is not running (only other Jabber clients logged in).

Is this known and worked on already? If not, how can I help (logs, traces...) ?

Cheers,
Michael

Although there’s two main issues I’m facing and I’d like to know if
1)Video Calls don’t work. If I keep hammering the video on of button I
sometimes happen to make the other side see me after disabling and
enabling video during a call. But I never see anything – so it’s one-way
video at best. This is bad because sometimes I’m crashing whole jitsi.
2)Presence Status. I’m connected to the Cisco XMPP/Jabber Server (called
IM/Presence) and it works fine for most of the IM&P needs. But I
wouldn’t mention it if there’d be nothing broken. When I use multiple
jabber clients like Jabber on iphone, Jabber in Windows VM etc. I can
see my status going “on the phone” immediately when I pickup the
handset. When Jitsi is running first of all it shows my status as Online
and second it seems to battle with the other clients about the status,
because others see me as “on the phone” and Online randomly – only if
Jitsi is running. My “on the phone” status works very well when Jitsi is
not running (only other Jabber clients logged in).
Is this known and worked on already? If not, how can I help (logs,
traces…) ?
I've also the problem with Cisco video calls crashing Jitsi. For me it
crashes every time I enable video. Reported the problem three months
ago at <https://trac.jitsi.org/ticket/1175>, but no feedback.

Havn't used presence, so can't comment on that.
